Parmesan and Chive Buttermilk Biscuits and My Favorite Places in New Orleans

The best thing about being a baker is I get to eat things other places bake and then make them at home for myself

I went to New Orleans last weekend with a few friends. I was excited to go to my usual favorites but also try out some new places too. My family is from there and I always go once a year. It’s nice doing a mix of touristy things, but also local things that my mom would enjoy when she was younger. I hope you enjoy this short trip write-up and I can’t wait to go again.

My favorite sights

  • Cats Meow is hands down my favorite bar and place to sing karaoke. I should have a monument in the bar (in both Cats Meow and Cats Meow 2) with my passion for it. It’s always on my list of places to go and if I can, I’ll go every night I’m in town.

My favorite restaurants

  • Acme Oyster House for oysters, po’ boy sandwiches (hot sausage only)

  • Dat Dog - I always get the chef’s special. You get to choose the sausage you want and then the chef adds whatever toppings they want to.

  • Ayu Bakehouse - I don’t go to bakeries often, but someone recommended the bakery to me. I loved everything I got, but the parmesan and chive biscuit was a true inspiration.

  • Ruby Slipper - after a night out of singing and dancing, I was able to enjoy the breakfast as much as I normally would’ve.

Battle of the beignets

  • I used to be a Cafe du Monde truther, but I’ve grown to prefer Cafe Beignet now instead. I will say, while visiting this time around, neither were as high quality as I remember.

The full recipe for the biscuits is for my paid subscribers! I want to make sure I’m still providing actual, paid posts since I have been getting an increase in paid subscribers. I will still have free posts as well of course!
